Buying Insurance? Advice from our Long Beach auto body shop
May 27, 2016
At Craftsman Collision USA we see many cases where customers aren't always covered for the things they thought they were. If you choose the wrong auto insurance policy and you might not be covered when it matters or you’re paying extra for things you’ll never need. It can be confusing to understand all the different options, which is why our Long Beach collision repair center wanted to share some tips on how to pick the right car insurance. We've seen it all!
Rental car coverage
Adding a rental car allowance to your policy usually costs a few extra dollars a month and can make the difference between an easy collision repair and a real hassle. You'll kick yourself for not having this if you're in a car accident and rely on your car for transportation to work or school. We will help you with pick up and drop off when your car is at our collision center if you don't have this coverage.
If you're hit by an uninsured driver you could be out of pocket or even without a car. This coverage protects you if you're involved in a car accident with someone who does not have liability insurance or does not have enough liability insurance to pay for your damages. We will help you with pick up and drop off when you drop your car at our collision center if you don't have this coverage.
Excluded drivers on your policy
We have seen this time and time again unfortunately. Many drivers exclude their teenage kids from the auto insurance policy. Then they drive the car 'this one time' and have an accident. If you exclude a driver to save money don't let them drive your car...ever!
Setting the amount of your deductible can make a huge difference to lower the cost of your insurance. The higher your deductible, the less you pay in premiums, which is fine if you're a low risk driver, but one big collision and you could be responsible for a large deductible. You can take a chance on lower premiums if you have a good driving record. We've experience the pain our customers go through coming up with $1000 deductibles.
Check the features on your car
Certain safety equipment can reduce the cost of your insurance so make sure you ask the insurance broker about any discounts you may earn.
